Beauty Dupes & Drugstore Alternatives

Wednesday 30 April 2014

We all know makeup products can cost a lot, and some are worth the splurge but others, not so much. There are many high end beauty products that you can find dupes for at a much more affordable price and I'm here to show you a few that I've tried myself.

Lets kick things off with a nail polish I've been loving recently and it's from Tanya Burrs Nail and Lip Gloss Collection, and the polish is "Penguin Chic". It's a lovely grey toned nail varnish that is very flattering. This nail polish is a great dupe for Marc Jacobs nail polish in "Delphine", Penguin Chic is ever so slightly lighter than Delphine but it's seriously a fantastic cheaper alternative. With Marc Jacobs being such a luxary brand not everyone can afford $18 for a nail varnish. However, Tanya's nail collection comes at a much more affordable £5.99.

Another nail polish from the same Tanya Burr Collection is "New York Night", this polish is a lovely deep purple shade and looks very sophisticated on the nails, great for nights out. This is a perfect dupe for Deborah Lippmann's nail polish in "Dark Side Of The Moon". With Deborah's nail polish being a hefty £16 why spend so much when you can buy practically the same shade at a reasonable £5.99.

The YSL Glossy Stains are a fantastic lip product that give a non-sticky, long–lasting, high–shine gloss. But at such a high price of £25 it's not for everyone. There's a perfect dupe which is the L'Oreal Colour Riche l'extraordinaire. At a lovely price of £8.99 these are already more appealing. If you don't already know, L'Oreal owns YSL, so most of their products are identical, including these.

Clinque High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara is a great mascara it claims to be a "does-it-all" type of mascara. It really is, it creates ultra-thick and extreme volumised lashes, it also has a unique brush, allowing precise application. As a high end brand, it also has a high end price tag £17 to be exact. A great dupe for this mascara is Topshop's False Lash Mascara, it pretty much does the same thing, it is a volumizing false lash mascara. Combs and separates lashes for a full lash effect. The brush is slightly different but you can let that go at a great price of only £10.

Estee Lauder Double Wear is an amazing foundation that has a remarkable long lasting formula yet a lightweight feel. This foundation wears comfortably up to 12 hours. Provides a natural finish and sun protection all in one. This worry-free, long-wearing foundation stays fresh and looks natural through heat, humidity, nonstop activity. But at a high price of £28 not everyone can afford a foundation that price. The dupe for this foundation is Revlon Colorstay, this is priced at £12.50 which is quite expensive for a drugstore foundation but in comparison to Estee Lauder it's very affordable. This foundation provides lightweight comfort, so you feel like you’re not wearing makeup. Looks fresh for up to 16 hours. I love this foundation more as it has a selection of shades for Dry/Normal Skin and Oily/Combination.

Gel liners are great, they last extremely long and you can create the most beautiful crisp lines with them, there are many on the market. One of the most popular gel liners is MAC FluidlineFluidline's gel formula provides the precision of a liquid liner with a silkier, softer finish. Long-wearing. Smudge-proof. But at £15 there are many cheaper alternatives to this product. One of my favorite alternative is Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Liner. I find this gel liner to be way better than the MAC one.Maybelline Eye Studio is easier to control and lasts much longer on the eyes than Fluidline and at £7.99 you really can't go wrong.

Yet another, total and complete dupe! They both dual as a concealer and highlighter in one. They come in a handy twist tube with a brush on the end for easy application. YSL’s version will cost you £25 & the Maybelline version £6.99. Yes the YSL is more luxurious packaging, sure. But the product inside is the same, I know I'd rather pay £6.99 than £25.

Do you have any Dupes ? Let me know in the comments below, I would love some new ones to try out, as I am always on the look out.

I hope this may have potentially saved you some money!
Thanks for reading.
